Silly Q, but have you looked on the volkswagen database?

Go to www.volkswagen.co.uk  , click on used car, enter your search preferences.

I found 8 matches of reflex silver 3dr (mixed manual and dsg) and there's more choice if you look at steel grey (IMO nicer than reflex silver).

Yeah, been checking the database quite a lot
WANT ONE NOW!!!

So what's wrong with the one in Newport?
2006 (56-plate) Golf GTI (completely stock)
Under 20k miles
6-speed Manual gearbox
Reflex Silver
£13,495 - a lil over your budget but you should be able to haggle them down.

Spotted it, very nice too, and bang on what i'm looking for. Called him up today, wouldn't budge on 13.5, told him about one in huddersfield (a year older) that's 11.5 ish, still wouldnt have it. He's supposed to be calling me back with a part ex price on our lupo....

I hate to say it but I spent 6 months looking for the right GTI!

I did watch a very high spec silver one with 38k go on eBay about 2 months ago for £8900, was a very good buy for someone.

Good luck!

If he has called you to inform you that he can lower the price the there is a good chance you can get a little more off. They often stick at the original price to start with so they get as much commission as possible. But if he has rung u back AND offered you £500 off there obviously hasn't been significant interest. I would go to the dealers if you have confidence in your haggling ability - much easier to break them when face to face!

Well, i managed to shift him down from £13.5k to £12.7 so 800 quid cant be bad, put a deposit on it now so screw patience!!! Heh! Its the right colour, right amount of doors mileage and price so cant complain really! Not really bothered about 18" wheels really, i do alot of urban driving so the ride will be bumpy enough without em! Loving the interlagos design so leather aint an issue, DSG doesnt bother me, good old fashioned gear knob does me fine ta! Patience is something i have absolutely none of! Should be driving it on saturday fingers crossed!

It happens unfortunately. I went to look at a candy white GTi in Northallerton a while ago that was advertised at 13995 i think. the salesman told me that had only just been reduced and there was absolutely no way he could go any lower. I walked, and then found it listed a week later after I had bought mine for £13400! I don't know where you stand seeing as you've put a deposit down but im guessing you won't be able to do any further haggling. Don't worry though, you will forget about it as soon as you drive her away!
