hi everyone!
I will soon be spending some greens on refurbishing wheels and the car body but as i've never had this done before i was wondering if you guys could gimme some help and opinions.
1) Does anyone know the price of refurbishing alloy wheels? i dont even know if my wheels are refurbish-able because they're so weathered the alloy paint coating is flaking off and i can actually pick bits off! can it be fixed? i think its rusty too
2) the body (mainly the front arches) have rust on them and will need to be rust treated and repainted from the most inner layer. Is this a very expensive procedure? if anyone can recommend a nice place near the south (very very south of england then that would great thanks.
has anyone here had this work done on their pride and joy? all experience and views are welcome as i'd like to know what to look for and the price range, thanks in advance

Have a look at these people. Recommended by a couple of people on here and will give you some idea of cost

Is there not a warranty on the bodywork? 6 years or something? A rusty mk5 sounds a bit suspicious - has it been in an accident?

i'd be very concerned if my mk5 developed rust, they afterall at the oldest only 3 yrs old :undecided: what is the history, did you buy privately?

He is probably taking about a mk2 or something, but anyway
Wicked Wheels in Crawley did all 4 on my R32 for £55 + VAT per wheel in a day.
Chemically stripped
Bead blasted
Repaired
Powder coat primer baked on
Silver top coat and lacquer baked on
Refitted to car

Thank you very much for all the suggestions, looks like the wheels will be sorted first.
Sorry guys i didnt fully explain myself, my MK5 gti is immaculate, the restoration work is actually for a very very old merc of mine :embarassed:
I know its a gti forum but the info i gather here will be good for the golf in later years too
Thanks again fellas, C4

That's a relief!!!LOL!! My "awoooga" alarm went off then  Was a bit concerned about the whole paint thing then....
Anyhoo, can't comment on the wheels but FWIW, my mate has a BMW 330ci (01). It's started to get some bubbling on the front wheel arch. Just coming through now.
The car's in silver and that seems to be the hardest thing - paint matching. So I'm guessing on an older car, it would be even harder.
Oh, and it's costing him over £700 to sort it out.
Personally, I'd source a used wing
