Post by: AdamB on 15 July 2004, 20:21
What is the best stuff for getting tyres looking like they've just rolled out of the showroom?

I've used amourall tyre shine or something like that, piece of p1ss to use, its ?4.99 and it's in a big can, its a foam that you just spray round the wall and walk away, brings it up like it's out of the showroom, just make sure that you haven't just cleaned your wheels as the foam runs down them but it just wipes off.

I might have to try the turtle wax stuff though by the sounds of it  :)

agree with the turtle wax wet n black, great finish and lasts a week.. but yea dont get it all over your wheels (or wipe them off after) because it makes the brake dust stick like tar.

Tried various stuff in the past such as armorall, but the latest is Autoglym bumper care. Comes as a green gel and you just put in on a cloth and wipe over. As long as your tyres are clean to start with it lasts ages and each time you wash ther car the tyres come up well. Not a specific tyre cleaner but it does say it can be used on tyres....might actually try specific tyre cleaner made by Autoglym, or turtle wax as it sounds good

I have to admit that lately I have been using a ?1 bottle of Astonish vinyl and rubber cleaner  :-\

Gives a nice matt black finish tho  8)

Sprays are sh!t as they fade after a few days :P

Great stuff, Downside is it attracts dust meaning you have to clean your wheels after about 4 days  :(

degreaser (aka Fairy washing up liquid) will shift it, then wax your wheels and the brake dust will simply fall off  :)

I waxed my wheels with a hard wax made by turtle wax, it comes in a flat round tin, got it in halfords.

It's really good stuff, brake dust etc just washes off and they look great with just a hose washing.
