Title: Hey all new here

Hi there. I am a new member looking for info so I can buy a good car.

I am looking into buying a Golf 1.8T GTi preferably a pre 2001.

What are the things to look out for, any common rust spots? Noises from the engine?
I am a keen mechanic so I know the general areas of an engine but not specific to VW (I work mostly on Ford V6 engines)

I am in the Kent area and looking to buy in the next few months or as soon as I can afford it after I start my new job  :laugh:
