Title: Will LEDs work in MK3 lights?
Post by: ToRo on 11 March 2009, 15:51
I don't care haha!

Anyways, will LEDs work in "normal" MK3 lights or do the lights need to be specific MK3 LED ones?!

what lights we talking here? headlights, dash lights? both have been coverd loads. Dec runs led's in his side ligths(and weird lights) and the simple answer is any led bulb with correct connector can be used. not sure on their legality though..

Sorry, I meant rear lights, as mine are totally black (smoked) so the normal bulbs do not appear bright enough

Bit fiddly in the car.

I however can adjust them on the car and change bulbs a bit easier then most. :smug:

I won't go on about why lol.

Wierd lights

Lower side lights

I was thinking of putting all LED lights in the rear lights, my mate has them on his mk2 20v and they look good, more responsive than regular bulbs too!

But I have a dodgy rear light that needs hitting every now and again to get it to come on and havent worked out why yet, so decided i'll wait till I can get it looked at first.

I like the idea of being able to leave the lights on for a while and it using barely any power, handy for stopping on the road for 5/10 mins :)

Dec, your are daytime running lights just been wired up to the sidelights. The US models have to have them, they hate them, I like 'em.

They arent day time running lights

Daytime running lights switch off when the main lights come on. Like RedRobins on his Mk5 i believe.

Mine are chopped into the sidelights. Hence with I said lower sidelights.

Shup.

No I mean the actual unit not the wiring is for DRL, but someone has wired them up to the sidelights. Like if someone wanted them, buy the DRL then wire them up to the sidelights.

As I said.

No, they are sidelight bulbs, and they are smoked crystal indicators with sidelight inserts.

Called parking lights normally. NOT Daytime running lights...
