i have a 1990 oak green metallic golf gti 16v 3dr.
i've been told that only 2000 of these were made!
How can i qaulify this and does it make it a ltd edition?
replies as soon as poss please as it is due to go on sale.
many thanks

I don't know where you find out how many were made of a particular colour but I don't remember them being marketed as special editions, it's just that the oak green 16v are sought after as they are the best colour IMO. If you are selling it PM tobzman from this site as it sounds like something he would be interested in. :)

that is the classic colour so traditionally very desireable. i imagine a lot more than 2000 were made and no it's not a limited edition.
will be very easy to sell tho 8)

why is it that oak green is desireable? ???
-
how do i attach a pic of it on a posting?

Spot on Gibby, still looking!
Hi vwnutt
If you are looking to sell your motor send me a PM detailing the condition of the bodywork, mileage, service history, tax & test and your expected price.
As jv says there were probably thousands of mk2 golfs made in oak green so it is unlikely to be a limited edition. However to many a late oak green valver is seen to be the epitome of the mk2 gti.
Cheers
Toby

vwnut, the pic needs to be in some webspace and then place the URL of it between the img tags

lol - You forgot to say "In your opinion" young M ;)
-
Oh no looks like something's started now!!!
Oak green without a doubt the best with schwartz black coming second.
Anyway stop hijacking the thread, vwnutt can't get a word in edgewise and he might wanna sell me his car ;)

everyone says oak is *the* colour to have.
i would disagree now. the three metalics come from the 88 Campaign which had black, blue, and green. the reason oak became the colour to have is because very few Campaigns ever had it.
once oak came onto the main option list - everyone had it.
the rarest colour today has to be the metalic blue.
-
Yep definately agree with you there tin bright blue metallic is definately a lot rarer than oak green. I would definately have a 16v in that blue metallic but I've yet to see one, they all seem to be 8v in that colour.
-
blah, Alpine white all the way :P
-
your absolutely right tobz.
i was thinking of the dark met blue that came from the three Campaign colours, but there was a bright, almost turquoise, metalic blue that is never seen around today.
both blues went horribly out of fashion for some reason.
-
every one knows green is bad luck on a car
white is the best
-
must say that the metalic blue is the best colour IMO.
a mate had one in that colour and i didnt want to look like i was ripping him off by having the same, but he went and wrote the damn thing off 2 weeks after i had my car resprayed audi tt black!!
sods law really..

::)
your car is heavyweight dude ;)
-
I reckon silver is the best colour on a mk2 ;)
