i got stung when i bought my '99 a couple of weeks ago
damn thing looked and sounded sweet, but the suspension had seized and all the bushes and links had failed

so just because something looks like it's had all the servicing and MOT, doesn't mean it's 'ready to go'... i really wish i'd taken someone who knows about cars so they could inspect the things i didn't know to look out for

(i did test drive the car and it seemed 'harsh' but not too bad)

£1000 worth of repairs later and i have a really nice car now.. but i probably wouldn't have bothered if i knew i'd be spending £5000 on a 10 year old car!!

Don't buy a mk4 Golf you'll spend the rest of your life trying to fix it!

And when it's machined polishes, the paintwork is annoying me. Didn't mean to hi-jack this thread..
