Right start again in the right place lol
Basically im looking at buying a mk4 gti 2.0 (seen one me and the mrs really like) as a daily car and was trying to do my research first before buying so trying to find things to look out for etc
-
Oh forgot to add its mainly for the mrs to drive to and from work and we are going up from a 1.25 fiesta  so after a good solid all round car that will go on and on,

2 If not the 1.8 20v non turbo is very good 125 bhp
3 Rhyso will be along to sell the derv any min

He's already here but no mention of diesel
EDIT spoke to soon
-
Ha no derv for me, as said i would consider a 1.8 non turbo but reading up there only 10bhp above the 2.0.. also insurance comes into things as the mrs is 21 and im 23.. Personally id love a turbo but as i already have a turbo "toy" so couldnt justify the extra insurance etc...
-
am 23 and got a remapped tdi 150  get some quotes I think your be surprised
-
Mrs dnt want a diesel dunno why as there no worse than petrol imo but cant teach em lol.. Also she will be main driver as i use my no claims on my car

I would go 1.8 20v N/A over a 2.0 8V thats just me tho.
The 8v is a solid car and when looked after very smooth nice drive.
If you don't want it for performance thay are fine
-
Cool thanks ill have a look around at the 1.8 but as said really fallen for the one we have seen as its pretty good mileage compared to alot of others we have seen... Am supposed to be buying it as a nice standard car but love modifying so may add a few little add ons (style wise) once ive finished my mr2
-
I tried and tried to persuede the Mrs to get a Derv, but ended up getting the 1.8T LOL... LOVE IT!!!!!!!
Seriously though if it has been well serviced and has receipts etc... then it will more than likely be a  car, BUT, be prepared to get the bug of Modding it cos I had no intention whatsoever of doing anything to the car, but you just can't help it especially after looking at some of the sick things people do on here

I got wheels sat stacked in my front room at the mo' waiting for me to get off my @rse and fit them.
-
Yeah im pretty heavily into modifying but it will only go as far as subtle small add ons like the one in the pic i think that looks awesome cant do to much as it means less money for my real toy which already owes me a arm and a leg but just love cars
