After taking a look at BoneyBradley's MK3 Golf website http://boneybradley.webs.com/ (http://boneybradley.webs.com/) I got all interested in the A59.
I still can't work out how many there are in the world - most places on the internet say 3 - does anyone know?
Also, I found this link which is a very short write-up on the A59 http://www.faltdach.net/vwgolfa59.htm (http://www.faltdach.net/vwgolfa59.htm)
I know that VW have fiddled about with other Golfs, and come up with things like the W12, but to me they look too 'standard' compared to the A59 which looks like a really aggressive "i'm so much faster than you" type MK3. Anyone else got any favourite prototypes or factory project cars?

Get a VR Syncro + Supercharger + Bad boy bodykit
Looks more Agressive, and is faster. lol

Awful looking Mk1 Golf which was widened to squeeze in Porsche 928 engine and drivetrain.

My favourite special was the Porsche 959. About 280 built as road going cars to meet the rallying rules at the time. I sat in one at Porsche Centre Bristol whilst the owner Peter Lovett started it up, truly awesome sound.
Wouldn't say no to any of the 80 / 90's rally cars 205T16, Golf kit Car, Audi Quattro, RS200 etc etc.

it was meant to be a replacement for the mk2 rallye but never got past being a full size concept
it was designed by schmidt motorsport and was designed to have a turbocharged alluminium engine with an electronically controlled centre and rear diff
it was dropped from being built in 1992
