Hi,
I think my suspension may need replacing (a lot of roll through corners, seems to wobble a bit at 70-ish and a lot at 90+, a bit of wobbling when braking etc) on my 1999 1.8t. Does anyone know if the suspension from a 53 plate 1.8t will fit straight onto mine?
Cheers.

yes.
But you may be better uprating the items for better handling .

+1
They handle like a jelly out of the factory, my friend................................
You may also want to invest in some TT (rear) bushes for the wishbone. Tightens it up a treat. ;)

it could be the wheels or tyres?
Just mentioning it coz mine's pulling all over the place since fitting my 18s. going to get it laser alligned.

Sounds like it could be a number of things.
Could be you need to get your wheels balanced. Also the jusddering on braking could be warped disks, or as you rightly think it could be your suspension.

I thought that too, but the wheels are just standard 16" with Goodyear Eagle F1s. And the brakes were replaced about 8 months ago so cant be them. And the car is only driven to and from work etc so uprated suspension isnt worthwhile unfortunately.
I'm not 100% sure that it is the suspension. I had the car serviced at a non-dealer VW "specialist" 18mths ago and they said that 1 of the dampers needed replacing and 1 of the springs was cracked. I thought they may have been fibbing, so didn't do anything about it, and, it has passed 2 mots since without any mention of either being a problem!
T_J_G, did you mean that the 53 plate springs and dampers will go straight onto mine?
Cheers all
