Title: gearbox oil
Post by: GOLF_MK on 10 March 2009, 06:11
I'm going to be changing the gearbox oil in my 1996 GTim

Does anyone know the capacity for the oil?  Most places seem to sell gear oil in 1 litre bottles so I'm wondering how many I will need?!

I will say....you'll need less than quoted unless its a first fill as you can never get all the old stuff out!! (so don't over fill and stick 2 litre's stright in.. mine says 2.1l but when I changed i got under 1.5l in!!)

As far as i'm aware you can't overfill as it will run straight back out of the filling hole

Fill to that level and your done.
