Title: standard recirc.
Post by: Dan Gleebits on 09 March 2009, 22:26
might be another stupid question of mine   but how do you know when the standard recirc is foofed?
through gear changes and when backing of you can hear the valve chatter as its dumping the air back in, i do have cone filter so this would sort of amplifiy(sp) the sound a bit.
the reason for asking is that a lad i know said its making that noise becouse its knackerd, diaphram has split :undecided:  is this true?
i will be changing it anyhow when i have a remap

cheers

Yes, they do chatter when the diaphragm splits, but saying that, your cone filter will amplify the sound it makes if it's a) good or b) knackered.  I can't remember what the sounds are like or how loud they are, either, as I haven't had one for about 3.5 yrs, & it was only ever used with a standard airbox.  I went through a couple of them in 6 months, though!!  (Got them replaced under warranty at the time, though. ;)).

Not sure how you could test it but normally on a car thats not mapped you wouldnt really hear the recirc, as said with a filter kit you would hear it a bit more but not a great deal

If its naffed then either a forge 007P is a good choice or for a cheap fill in till you get the forge get the standard audi tt one as they were built better and if i remember there only about £22

If you got a spare half hour or so take it off and open it up and take a look.
