hi does any one know what the solinoide looking thing is on drivers side behind light 1990 gti 8v

shaped like a packet of polos? dim-dip resistor! no idea what it actually does though  :lipsrsealed:

i think its like a resistor or something, i had some help with that when i had problems with my hid kit! i think its like a dimmer but the opposite for when the lights turn on making the side lights brighter as they "warm up"

the dim dip resistor brings on the dipped beams dimly when the sidelights are on. the undocumented feature is to set fire to your headlight loom when its wiring rubs thru on the chassis leg.

thanks 4 that everyone one of the wires has broken off will solder it back on
