Title: Annoying accelerating problem
Post by: ian00uk on 09 March 2009, 21:02
hi all

when i put my foot down the engine revs high but not in smooth way like normal car should. it jumps right up to high revs but the car doesnt accelerate with it then when u let the accelerator off then the car jurks forward. its especially embarrasing when overtaking because it sounds real bad. its hard to explain.

ive tried changing the maf but that hasnt worked.

Sounds either like a slipping clutch or a dirty throttle body?? :undecided:

look in the info section for the G60 thread (assuming yours is a 1.8T)

most people have had the problem and you're looking around £400 or so all in

to check if its ur clutch, stick it in 5th and put ur foot down, if it revs its tits off without accelerating much its ur clutch

putting it in 5th and putting foot down is exactly what happens, the car hardly goes but revs its tits off which is embarrasing on motorways
