Is the car for her or you?
If its for her then good luck finding a decent insurance quote on 1.8T :(
As said before 3k is enough money for a decent tubby.
-
I've got one! They're ok, better than the 2.0
If you're happy with standard performance they're fine, they're only 25BHP less than a standard turbo. However, if you want to more power (remap etc) then don't buy it cause there's literally no cost effective way of making them quicker (and i've looked!).
I love the car but if i'm honest i wish i'd bought the turbo cause i would like a bit more oomph! Classic case of not doing my research before purchasing!
Tax costs are £198 for 12 months (same as the turbo?)
Not too sure about MPG, the computer tells me i average about 29mpg around town but i tend to work it a bit hard due to the lack of turbo so that's probably not an accurate figure.
-
they maybe 25 BHP less but they are missing a turbo
had the 2.0 couldnt wait to get rid of it for the 1.8T
-

Ture, but a TDI is cheaper to run, costs less in tax and insurance and is just as quick

TDI is more expensive to run if you don't do many miles a year
