Hi
In that case, how old is the coil and what about the crank sensor.

If the fuel pump is not priming and you have replaced the relay then maybe you have an ECU or pump problem.

seconded..
test it first, bypass the ecu and put a 12v straight to the fuel pump relay, if it still happens its the pump... if it doesnt then it could be the ECU..

could be a fault with ign switch or ecu relay

not something you could really diagnose with vag com.. you want to get yourself a long bit of wire, take it from the +12v side of the battery, crimp a male spade connector onto it and then take out the fuel pump relay, you need to find the pin that goes direct to the fuel pump.. haynes should tell you this, if you havent got one, use a continuity tester..
when you have found the pin that goes directly to the fuel pump you want to push the spade connector into the pin.. if the pump runs straight away then its not the pump. if it takes a couple of tries then you probably need a new pump..
