Hi guys,
I'm having trouble with my alarm, just wondered, if anyone could help or offer advise??
Its really strange, when I alarm the car, sometimes the doors don't lock, so I have to keep pressing the alarm until they do, then when it finally locks, sometimes the bloody windows open!! I sort this out by waastin time and fiddling with it and its all locked 'safely'. When I go to get in the car i.e unlock it, the alarm bleeps as if its off, but I have to use the key to actually unlock the door, central locking doesn;t work when I do this, then . . . . sometimes when i lock it all fine (I have to stay with the car for a few secs to make sure all is ok) I go out to it in the morning and the bloody windows are open!!!!!
So bloody annoying!! But all of this is not regular, it can work fine sometimes too!!
Do you reckon its knackared? And is my alarm standard?? is got ot the fob SAKURA, it only has one button on it.
Any help I'd much appreciate it, if there is any way i'd like to try and save it, it can't afford another one, but if need be I might just have to take it out :-(

sakura is a cheapo alarm and not std fitment!! Bin it and buy something decent :wink:

lol, thank you, again, i'm going to try and get it disconnected, do you know if the central locking will work with just the key once i get it removed??

yes the gti came with central locking as std and should still work with the alarm disconnected

You'll be able to pull the main alarm box out and short 4 pins out with wire to disable it. If you have a manual, you need to short the fuel pump and starter cables.

I started to read that Josho, but then it turned into a foreign language :-( I'd love to be able to disconnect it myself that would be great and cheaper! but I'm scared I might break it altogether!
Would I have to do anything with the fuel if the alarm goes off when I'm driving, I would have thought this would have something to do with a cut off thing, linked with fuel? Thinking if it doesn't cut off now it might not need tampering with by the fuel? Or am I talking aload of poop?

Basically, aftermarket alarms like that one just cut the power to the fuel pump relay and the starter motor relay.
You remove the box and join two cables together for each. Then your stock immobiliser and central locking carry on as usual.
What model is it?

I haven't a clue what model it is, I just have one black fob that is about an inch by an inch and a hal in size with one circle button on it.
See thats kind how I though it worked, but I'm guessing that the part that cuts power to the starter moter and fuel pump isn't working otherwise it wouldn't go off when I drive it?! But it does and the car doesn't turn off?!

Oh, thats odd. You should just be able to remove and join the wires and that's it.

Yeah. I've removed a few alarms before, all been the same. Would need some kind of diagram to know what wires are what. You can tell with a multimeter too.

them secura alarms are 3 wire.... 1 to live, 1 to earth and 1 to the fan switch (there pretty basic and use voltage drop when a door is opened etc to go off!)
