Title: How to get more np out of a 1.3 mk2 golf?
Post by: vwshane on 06 March 2009, 14:44
Hi, Ive recently purchased a 1.3 mk2 golf.

Im going to strip and re-build the whole car, and give it a nice new spray job.

I was just curious as to what mods can be done, to get more performance out of
a 4speed 1.3 mk2 golf engine?

Thanks

Im a good mechanic, but dont really want to go down the road of boring the head etc.
Thanks

Engine Swap.

1.3 is to little in such a large car to get some performance out of it without doing bigger jobs like basically a complete engine build with entirely different internals.

Yes, i understand that.
Its just my insurance is rediculous, its going to be 1750 and if i change the engine, i wouldnt want to think how expensive it would be!

in that case, do nothing for a year. Get through your first year without any problems, then your premium will halve and you can starting adding to it again, once you have some experience under your belt.

Ok, thankyou very much for your help.

I will report back when i get around to the polo parts, im picking a new engine up soon, as my current one has done 144000, and this car is my daily, so a 55k engine will be a little better!

Cheers
