Title: INTERCOOLER WORRIES
Post by: jake on 06 March 2009, 00:52
i am looking to spend about 800quid on my car next month, and one of the mods im going to go for is a long awaited front mounted intercooler.

Problem is i have a forge carbon engine cover, and the intercooler pipe goes over the engine, which im worried means i lose the engine
cover,

Does anyone else ever had, or heard of this problem. if i have to lose my engine cover ill be seriously peed off

My mate had an intercooler fitted but his pipework was custom made, and they made it go around the engine instead of over so he was ok.

Yet it cost him a price of 250quid just for the piping!!

any help or advice would be much needed

cheers peeps

jake

Yes, the Forge item has both pipes on the O/S, so need to go over the engine (like Vapour Matt's). :)

would the pipe going across the top of the engine get in the way of a strut brace ?

yeah but the problem with the forge is that it doesnt look good from the front.

im after the look from the front aswell. the two pipes either side of the r32 bumper, with the core in the centre.

The forge is far too expensiive for what it is

anyone any ideas?

Email the seller asking if the engine cover can be fitted with the piping?

The carbon one is the same as stock isn't it?

You can get the forge kit for £507 at the mo. Contemplating it myself, only thing i am worried about is the pancake pipe staying.. not worried aout looks as it's there to serve a purpose.
