i have borrowed a gas tester to do the rj set up guide and have a few probs i have done it but want to do it again as it doesnt quite seem right which is the coil negative as i want to use the rev counter that is built into the machine as im not sure on the mfa
once it was done i connected temp sensor and breather and it ticked over a bit lumpy
the throttle body top switch is not being contacted by the throttle would this cause any problems
i could not get the machine to sit at 1.8 it would keep going up and down between 1.5 and 1.8

ignore the throttle switch bit as i thought it was the idle switch
-
the idle swithc is underneath, you should hear it click with throttle shut, if you press the switch on top it actually has the same effect when at idle as both switches are wired in parallellellel
id be happy with a value that varys between 1.5 and 1.8 :)
coil -ve is the one with the red/black wire going to it, bit tricky to unplug as its in a double plug with the trigger wire from tci, so you would have to pull it off, pop the red/black wire pin out of the connector and reconnect it, then plug the timin light in.

had a look at idle on mfa again and it sits at 840 then drops to 780 and back without engine sounding like its dropping
sit and rev it and it revs freely but hit the revs before it has settled back down to idle and it just seems like a flat spot for about 500 to 1000 revs then clears
went for a drive round block and it feels like its going to cut out every now and then when stopping and it also pops/burbles when changing down
does it sound like it just need setting up again
cheers

sounds liek the idle needs to be raised a bit, worth checking the base timing is all spot on and also check the idle switch clicks when throttle shut, and also that the throttle snaps shut to the stop :)

cheers john i think i will start from scratch tomorrow
i will check timing marks then set idle then time up with strobe and then co and see what happens from there
