Title: 1998 Golf 1.8 Gti - Electric Window Fault
Post by: CRnDR on 05 March 2009, 12:26
Hi, I'v ejust bought a mark 4 Golf 1.8 Gti but, none of the electric windows work.  They don't work with the drivers control or individually.  The drivers window did open a little bit when I opened the car but, shut again when I locked it so, the regulator must be ok?  I've had a look in the fuse box but, can't find a picture of a window to replace the fuse.  I would greatly appreciate any help.  Also do they tend to have really high clutches?

fuse box info, worth having a look at the fuse first since none of them work, i dont think the early mk 4 had the central conv module but i could be wromg, if it does have it it could be that at fault

What if it is not a fuse?

at worse it could be your central convenience module as Dai pointed out earlier so its worth checking the fuse for that too

Hi, it was the fuse. The windows are now working apart from the rear drivers side window.  It makes a clicking noise but, nothing happens.  What could that be?

It was just the runner.  All 4 work now.  The only problems left now are a knackered boot lock and a very high clutch.  Also the alloys could do with a refurb
