Title: Is this a match?
Post by: Vdubbster on 04 March 2009, 15:17
Ok, took the filler cap off my golf, and compared it to this old boot lid I have off another 1996 dragon green mk3.

Do you think it is a good match?

I know its a bit hard to tell like this, but i think it looks quite good.

I ask this as I am in need of another door, and am going to look at a breaking 1996 dragon green golf at the weekend. I hope the door I see will match as good as this.

I believe that there is 2 shades of dragon green but they look the same to me.

Ive been told the same, and that the square side repeaters have the darker shade to the oval

I'd like to know how you get on with this Vdubbster as I'll be doing the same soon enough, changing the rear bumper and O/S wing.

impossible to tell from a pic matey and untill you get them on the car,  but good luck to you as DG is the worst colour to match, my mate ended up with a odd car when trying to do what your doing

theirs only 1 dragon green but green is a barsteward for fading

Well

I got the tailgate, and its shook lol

It looked 100% on the donor car, but once home and after a good clean and polish its been resprayed :-( :-(

the top half is perfect (factory job) however the lower (shti body shop) looks gash. the lacquer is horrid.

So I have fitted this one, and am sending my other to the paintshop along with my fuel cap so an exact match can be had.

Shady - I reckon if you stick to the oval repeater model, AND make sure the paint is ORIGINAL, no shti resprays, then youl be ok.

Cheers for the advice man, will make sure I do that. That's a shame about your tailgate though, what year was it off?

I was supposed to say DOOR, not tailgate lol.

It was also a 1996, the top around the window is mint and untouched. But the lower resprayed area is not up to the standard of my car :-(

What panels do you need ?
