Hi all
I think I have a major problem with my 1994 VR6. The other day, I noticed it was struggling when i tried to pull away and was juddering whilst driving in low revs (under 3000rpm). I carried on driving and noticed that the sound of the engine has completley changed, as the exhaust sounds totally different. Instead of the low rumbling drone it made, it now sounds like a helicopter! The car is juddering slightly when idling (rev counter has gone up to just under 1000rpm from 700rpm when idling now) and it drives really roughly, doesnt seem as responsive either.
I have it booked into the garage for Thursday but Im absolutley dreading it, so worried it's something major with the engine. The engine has done around 92k miles, had a new water pump, uprated HT leads and spark plugs fitted last xmas too.
Anyone had any similar problems?

From the description of the noise change it sounds like you have blown your exhaust gasket or have a hole in your exhaust system. If this is the case you might be getting a false reading at your lambda sensor which could be making the car run rough.
Take it into an exhaust place for a free exhaust check.

Ah ok thanks. The engine was running rough and the car was juddering before the change in sound, Im thinking because I carried on driving it - it caused another problem, in this case perhaps the exhaust?
