Title: My new gti not all good- Cooling fans needed, where from??
Post by: donny_daz on 03 March 2009, 15:04
Hi guys after hearing a vibration from my cooling sytem ive found both the fans behind the radiator to be damaged. caused by what looks like the air box above coming loose and falling into them. Ive had a quote from volkswagon for £169 and £108 and thats just the fans no surround etc. Ive found a blokeon ebay who has some from an 07 plate and he says they fit where as ive also been told there are 5 to 6 types. Any ideas guys as my new volkswagon is stressing me out already.

Sadly, it is a known fault, caused by the soft engine mounts used on the GTI.  Technically, this is a design defect, and even if the car is out of warranty, should be covered by the VM.

PM me your full VIN number, and I'll look up and give you the correct part numbers for both fans.  You will need to boost your post count first though - as you need a minimum of 10 posts to use the PM facility.
