this problem has also happened to me - how do you reset the mfa?
-
Just take the terminals off your battery, leave for a few seconds and reconnect, this should give the MFA a boot. :)
-
Or you could just take the clock/radio/interior light fuse out instead. But if you prefer to go under your bonnet disconnecting the battery will work too ;)

The same thing has happened to my new golf, knew it when I bought it but still thought it was a good buy. The rev counter does sometimes blip and the water temp light flashes at the same time.
I was going to get a clever auto lectrician a mate knows to look at it but has anyone done any of the above checks to see if they work.
I hope so as it wouldn't cost ;D

KelvinIOW did you try the recommended fix ? Did it work?
Please let us know. ???
-
Sorry i thought id sent a reply sorry bout that!
Yes it did fix the problem just took the tereminals off the battery for about 30 seconds then put them back on and its all sorted now!
Nice one mate cheers
Now i can play with the MFA to my hearts content nice one!
;D ;D ;D

I beleive it did as he then started a thread thanking Blue MK2 for his initial advice. Give it a try anyway, it's only taking a fuse our or disconnecting the battery ;D
-
oh yer i thought i was going mad then i thought i did a reply somwhere out there hey still sane juuuuuuuuuust :P

I had the same problem with my MFA and rev counter. The rev counter would blip up to about 1000 RPM and the water led would flash. I tried removing the correct fuse a few months back but this had no effect. I then took the clocks out to check the connections but everything seemed fine. In the end I bought a new set of clocks which fixed the rev counter but not the MFA. Does anyone know what could be causing the MFA not to work as it was defiantly working in the car I tuck the clocks from. ???

Lewis have u tried disconnecting ur battery for about 30 seconds then reconecting it cos it worked for me if u havnt tried it then give it a go tell me how u got on!
(Knowledge was acuired by Blue Mk2 many thanx) :D

The disconnecting battery thing hasn't worked for mine...neither for that matter has removing/changing the fuse in the fusebox. FRUSTRATING!! lol
-
My rev counter and MFA has never worked. I was told that it is a common problem. there is an advert in the Rabbit magazine and apperently they are charging 100 to fix the problem!!!
Do u think i should try disconnecting my battery?
-
this happened to me w week or so ago. I disconnected the battery and it worked, but now my digital clock doesnt keep the correct time. Any Ideas people??. it seems to only work when the engine/ignition is on

Sounds to me like there is no constant feed to the clock. :-\ Does position 2 of your MFA keep all the details ? If this resets itself then I'd deffo say it doesn't have a constant feed.
-
Just disconnected the battery thinking," this sounds to good to be true". And I was right.
The revcounter and MFA still don't work, though the clock reset, WOW. :(
Anyone with anyideas before I start to have to shell out some serious dosh :'(
-
Buy a second hand set of clocks, alot cheaper than spending ?100!!
-
While out tonight the Revcounter started to work and the MFA was also fully functioning with the water temp light not flickering. I thought that for a short while God had seen fit to bless me with some good luck. ;D
Should have known that after just 1 mile it went intermittent again. :(
Any more ideas, sounds like a faulty wire/connection somewhere? ???
