Yep, thats the sound of the heatshield on my backbox. . .well more of a rattle! :embarassed: bolts etc have totally rusted and i cant see a way of fixing it without drilling new holes maybe. . :undecided:
Done a search and couldn't really find any answsers
Anyone else done a decent long lasting fix?

i wouldnt rip that one out. the rest are fine to rip out but next to fuel tank is important as tank is plastic!

You can remove it but I would not due to the fuel tank or use steel wire and tie it back up.
-
Can't really find anything to tie it up to.

Sorry, forgot to read the bit about which part of the exhaust :embarassed:
I would try and source some alloy chequer plate with if you can to make a replacement .

Have you tried a 'metal glue' from one shield to another maybe solder it to the other or make a hole in the shield which is ok and wire one to the other.
Mine still had bolt studs although very rotten but enough to get two of the original retaining clips on each stud and pinch tighter. Have lasted 18 months so far.

try some unibond ultra adhesive between the car and the heathshield to stop the rattle and it falling off! if you can get some fire rated glue/no nails stuff (screwfix) then that would do the trick too. other option is to try and bend the pins slightly with a hammer so it doesnt rattle

have you still got the studs fixed to underside of body?
These things are held on with push on metal circles. Cant describe them in any other way!
