a 16v sleeper, very nice ;), i think you`d better ring rich to see if he can pop round and wave his magic wand to get it going ::)
-
nah this ones for me to play with, been after something i can start from scratch with. the 16v engine hasnt been set up at all yet and the car came with its 8v engine as well, so many parts and not enough room :D
-
Nice little project to keep you busy for a while ;)
-
pull the body kit off and get some chrome bumpers on there. Go old skool with it Vix 8)
-
looks like a good base for a project,
nice 1 vix, ;)
and what do you have planned for the little beast? ???
-
have to agree ads, im not particuarly keen on the bodykit either. but not sure about chrome and white either :-\
im trying to decide whether to make it a track car or turn the yellow cab into a show car (eventually). i cant do both as one has to b a daily driver. i think getting the engine right is my first hurdle at the moment though. :P
-
I'd keep the tintop for a daily driver. With the 16v engine in it , there will be enough power for day to day driving.
Then keep the cab for shows and summer use. Nothing worse for a cab than having to run it through winter.
-
the track car idea sounds good :D
vix do you meen to take down the track like once in a while?
or like proper stock hatches type thing,
there was a good article in this months "evo" on stock hatch racing,
a mk1 like that would be perfect for it. ;)
man id love to get into sh!t like that :D
-
the track day car was just an idea really marcus, i dont know anyone thats really into it, but there seems to be alot of vw championship cup events across the country and i will maybe have a look into whats involved. i do like going fast if that counts for anything ;)
but to be honest my real love is the yellow cab, i would love to see it in A1 condition, if i use it as a daily driver it will be a shame because in my opinion it is a rare car that doesnt need the abuse it currently gets with me, my mates and the weekly shopping in it.
i guess its a possiblity that i can strip the tintop down for the track when i want with not to much hassle ???
-
Whats wrong with the body kit :'(
Would probably look a lot better with white bumpers. Seriously though Vix, if you do rip it off can you put me at the top of your list for finding a good home for it ;)
Good luck with the project, let me know if you need any help ;)
-
hey rich, i should be crying too. its the same bbs body kit that i have on my cab :-[
i just think maybe they suit the cabs better. 8)
cheers for the offer of help rich, its great to know i can get top advise here if i need it. bit worried that just as im getting to grips with an 8v i go and double the trouble by getting a 16 ::) oh well, must b a 'dub thing' ;D
-
Cool vix! 8)
Remember-regular fotos n write ups! ;D
Im sure wotever u decide will look cool! :) ;)
Dinx :-*
-
If you wanna make it into somthing special vix you know who to call ;) Ive got some kick ass ideas for that car ;)
-
Oooooo...Vix, its pretty :)
Personally I would keep the bodykit on, retrim them mingin seats with grey/white leather and bling the engine bay up (once its running ok of course). Oh and lets not forget a bigger set of alloys ;) :D
Now, where did I put that lottery ticket ??? ;D
:-*
-
cheers guys. i will keep u updated with pics. 8)
fielder keep ur mental bonnet vent and neon ideas to urself :P
-
So no roll cadge, Sparco Bucket seats, Carbon fiber bonnit, Magnesium fordged wheels and Direct port Nitrous Injection kits?? Owwww :(
Paint it black ;)
-
I reckon it'd look nice in that flat bright VW blue....you know the one i mean??
-
it wont b getting a new colour, the yellow cab needs a meet with the sprayer more. its bodywork is really good apart from some rust at the bottom of the doors.
im thinking weber 45s fielder 8)
-
Its fookin lush 8)
I know I've already said that, but I can't help it like :D
-

Im thinking Hydrolics and 22inch Dubs ;D Have a 'Big Pimpin' clipper cab ;D
-
lol. Lad, are you sure that was a vitamin C you took this morning?? ;) ;D
-
hydrolics on my cab would b awesome, i get the feeling that the smoothed bodykit couldnt handle it to well though. it cracks at the first sign of a speedbump as it is ::)
back to the drawing board please ;) :D
-
::)
now that sounds interesting :D
-
i meant the webber 45's :D
not the hydraulics :-\
-
rip off all that injection stuff vix, it dosnt look like its all there any way from the pics (unless in the boot) and bang them 45's on on the correct manifold, along with a decent pump and regulator and a decent free flow exhaust and your looking at a nice monster!!!, would be easier to get running as well on carbs and you aint gotta fanny around with any wiring (if is has/hasnt been done!!)
Gaz 8)
-
I agree with Marcus, not because I understand what the f*k a webber 45 is, but because he said im his favourite :-*
-
::)
i like this lady :-* :-* :-*
-
:-* right back at ya
(oops, is this a hijack? ::))
-
:-* dubby ;)
could be considerd as a hijack(sos vix ;) )
to get back on track then:
get the webers, sounds good :D
-
Whatever Vix does with it, Im sure it will be fookin sweeeeeeeet ;)
-
unless she crashes it of course...... Which is quite likely :P
Anyway nice car Vix... Shame i'm leaving the Dub life!
-
hey lovebirds aka marcus and jen - get a room ;)

Gaz 8)
cheers gaz, it appears to have just about everything for the 8v engine and the 16v. there really is an absolute ton of spare parts including trim, lights, switches. like i said gaz i do have a weber 45 laying round so im on the lookout for another one. im thinking this would probably work out to expensive for me to run though. it would b a shame to put in all that work and not be able to insure it.
dan: i have never had a crash in any of my own cars thank you!! its just other peoples cars i have a problem driving :-[ atleast i have some taste when it comes to cars :P
-
hey lovebirds aka marcus and jen - get a room ;)
We'd rather get a restaurant thanks ;) :D
-
yup :D
-
Wiv lapdancers. ;D
-
now that would be sweet,
dunno what my g/f would say tho :-\ :D
-
She'd probably say 'please can I be a lapdancer in your restaurant?' ;D
-
now thats an idea! :D
-
vix,
hows the project goin then? ???
;)
-
still not in a garage close enough to home for me yet. been sorting out boxes full of spares though in between driving jobs to earn some cash for work on the cab.
got some almost mint mark 1 coilovers in the boot, dont think they can go on my cab though. also came with a mint set of mark 1 gauges (now i know the difference between them and audi ones). Ive got loads of stuff to sell to fund the project, just waiting til ive got the space to go ahead.
dont worry marcus, as soon as its in progress the forum will be first to know ;)
-
Jobs?? Vix??
LMFAO...
Yeah right.
-
Dan, dont try to hi jack this thread. :P
I do work when its totally necessary. Yesterday i spent 7 hours driving round London before getting home and fixing the stereo in my cab.
Just because i dont like working everyday doesnt make me a complete waste of space. i have a different outlook on life to most people. Having a mortgage is the last thing i would ever be tied down to. all the best to u lot that want to work ur a$$es of til ur almost dead. for me its all about being free and having fun, as long as me and my daughter have the things we need i dont see why i should conform to ur standards 8)
-
Nice one Vix.... Got ur'self a nice motor there, lucky girl... ;D
-
^Go Vix! ;D

I gotta go now but No No...
:o :o :o :o ??? ??? ??? :-\ :-\ :-\ :-X :-X :-X
EDIT: I would like to "emphasise" that this is MY opinion... and I "think" I'm entitled to it, but to be honest, with this website... I'm not too sure. ::)
-
hey ul b gettin one of em^ lol
hence the "project" being in title!Gotta a emphasise! ;) ;D
U gotta admit-she has a gud start for a project!
Dinx :-*

Cupra - sure it may look a bit run down in the pic, but a bit of imagination and some work, and it could be a proper old skool classic. You dont get show winners for nothing nowadays, they all take time and effort.
But like you say - each to there own I suppose.
-
Vix,
i think it would be great if you turned this project into a track day racer.
would be perfect for it.
i would love to do something like that myself, but id need to have a garge on my house to put it 1st :-\
if you dont mind me asking how much did you get the little beauty for? ???
;)
-
you probably wouldn't believe her if she told you ;)
lets just say it was the bargin of the year :)
-
well good for her.
mk1 track day project car has got a great ring to it 8)

For the amount that needs spent, u could buy a mk2 16v thats at least semi decent.
-
you don't need to spend much at all. everything's there. just needs a bloody good clean, shampoo, hoover, wash, wax, polish, spray ;D
I know I get a load more pleasure back off seeing my car really really clean and knowing that I got it that way.
I think the bodywork is very good on that car anway. if you fancy tackling it yourself it wouldn't take much to do the filler and spraying, though that is one of the things I'd leave to the bodyshop. Everything else could be done yourself.
Vix's mk1 will be great in no time.

Hey, now you've got a cupra, why don't you f*k off to a seat forum and stop slating our golfs??!!
Vix, from what Dizzie's said, I reckon he wants to do the cleaning.... ;) :D
-
well you know i agree with you there dubby :-*
but he still dont get the clue, poor lad :-\
vix, get that dub on the track!!!!
-
I reckon if she saw the gti magic vid, she'd want it as a track car...... :D
after I watched it, I sure as hell wanted one!!!!!
-
hey cupra, im sure with the amount of money i have spent on old skool v dubs over the years i could easily by myself a very nice car. For me its about owning a classic and having to work at making it something really special. 8)
without being offensive my cab gets 1000 times more looks than my brand new corsa sri did or a later mark golfs do. Thers a whole cult scene behind it. Ive made some fantastic and extrememly helpful friends due to owning classic dubs and thats something u cant buy for any amount. :D
i bought the tintop for 200 quid after i felt guilty that the owner only wanted 150. Yes it needs a clean up, but its a good solid shell and the perfect base for any mark 1 project. ;D
i bid on some gauges on e bay a little while ago for my cab. They were audi ones and not exactly what i wanted. In the end they went for 100 in their console. was a bit steep for me to be honest. In the back of that tintop is an immaculate set of 3 original mark 1 gauges. look whos laughing now 8) add to that an almost brand new set of coilovers, plus the set its sitting on at the moment and you know i landed a total bargain. :D
Your opinion is a valid one cupra, I hope your happy with your loan repayments. ::)
-
You did well Vix
If u come to sell any mk1 bits that his lordship hasn't got first dibbs on can u let me know?
Thanks
Sarah
-
I have to agree with Vix on quite a few points there.
I have owned a lot of very nice cars and motorbikes form Integras to BMWs and even a Celica GT4 which was one of the best handling and quickest cars I've owned, standard it pushed out over 220BHP and, it didnt stay standard for long. I've owned hign performance track bikes converted to road use, and just recently bought a 6 month old X-trail. Yet despite all this, I get more looks and have more fun driving my Cab. It's not the quickest or best handling thing I've owned, but it is certainly my favourite.
It looks different, and is a fairly rare sight nowadays. Without trying to sound disrespectful about you Cupra, as I'm sure it is a great car, they are too common, and look like every other eurobox. We all have our individuality and I just like to extend it to my car.
One day we might look back and say "Those Cupras are great classics, real old skool." But I can say that now about mine, and it feels good to own a bit of motoring history, something that changed the way we think of small cars . After all, the GTI is just that - motoring history

Sarah
no worries sarah. from what i can make out this cars engine packed up and the owner bought all the parts from a mark 1 that had been broken including its 16v engine. Hence i have this car plus a whole load of spares from another broken mark 1. If i can help at all, i will. just let me know what parts u need.
i totally agree with you ads. If someone offered me a brand new cupra for cheap, dont get me wrong, id except it. but then i would sell it and go and buy a completely mint mark 1. I dont drive a mark 1 cos im poor, i drive it cos its pure class 8)
-
Vix, you could probably recoup some of your costs by flogging that seized engine on ebay 8)
or...you could keep it in your living room as an ornament... ;) :D
-
