hi guys im in the process of changing the lights on each of the switches on the dash and at the moment ive gotten as far as getting the fog light and rear window heater switch along with one of the window switches working with white led's behind them.
the problem i have is that the main light switch that turns on all lights (sidelights and main beam) works when i test by wiring the terminals to a battery but not when its actually plugged into the car! same goes for one of the other window switches!

want to know if i need new or bigger resistors on the leds because of the power load or if ive plugged up to the wrong terminals!?!?!?!

I'm in the process of doing this but haven't encountered a problem as yet.
Only thing I had was if the little lever type things weren't seated properly but it was pretty obvious when you tried to use the switch as it wouldn't click properly.
Are you doing it with instructions?
If not I could proberly e-mail you some to see if you have indeed wired it up to the wrong pins.
Let me know.
-
cheers bjork! unfortunatly im doing it from memory of seeing a post on a forum!!! so no instructions and if you could send over anything you think might help i would really appreciate it  mainly for the main lights switch but also for the passenger side window switch! they are the two main buggers im having problems with right now
if you have any other info on the light that goes behind the heater panel would also be appreciated!
thanks Bjork

I've got headlight and heater instructions.
You have to cut the heater apart.
I'll send you them tonight before I go to beddy-byes.
-
E-mail sent mate.
-
thanks dude

I just did mine the other day. Got photos, but not updated the project thread.
I'll be doing a how to when I'm done.
Quite handy info on LEDs (http://www.gizmology.net/LEDs.htm), clears up a few misconceptions.

nice one  if you could keep me posted on when you put the pics up on your project id appreciate it ben

just fyi, the headlight switch bulb only comes on with the ignition ;)

thanks rubjonny but i noticed that it didnt turn on but when i put the key in and turn the drivers side window switch stays on lol i dont think thats normal? somone maybe before messed around with the lights to isit worth me taking the dash apart to see? it doesnt make much diffrence to me that the window switch light turns on with ignition but i would like to find out why the main headlight switch bulb wont turn on!!! i think it worked before i took it all apart lol
-
Sounds like the polarity is wrong on the LEDs, just swap the wires over.

The electric window lights are permanently on, they're on a completely separate loom so they don't know any better. The headlight one is on when IGN is on, as above, it sounds like your LED is the wrong way round.

ok thanks guys ill give it a go tonight when i get back from uni!!!! lol hopefully its sumin dumb like that...

the passenger side window swithc doesnt turn on either but like you said the driver side one is always on at ignition..... really confused now
-
The bulb is probably dead in the passenger one?
-
could be the resistors are cheap pants, ive had no end o trouble with them blowing on mine
-
You run resistors on them? I just used 12v LEDs that were good for up to 14V.
-
i use normal leds, but have since bought better resistors that cope with up to 14v
-
ahhhhhh pooooeee it was the polarity LOL feel so dumb
turnd them around and hey presto thanks for that guys heres some pics of all of em working now
