Title: Sidelight defective
Post by: _Adam_ on 02 March 2009, 15:45
i hav just replaced my sidelights but the wattage is too low or something so the dash still says parkings lights defective, they come on for about 5 seconds and turn off. is there a way around this or do i have to get some standard ones back on?

So you have got a Mk5 ??

And you replaced the sidelamps - what with?  Some LEDs?

yeah a gt tdi,

Ahh, OK.  You might wanna update your sig then!

i put a hid kit

Eeek.  Bad, bad idea.  You do know these are illegal, doncha?

But are the new sidelights the same as the old ones?  ie, are the new ones a normal tungsten filament bulb but with a blue coating on the glass - or are they actually LEDs?  If they are LEDs, then you will need to either wire in a resisitor to the correct value, or disable the 'cold' bulb test with VAG-COM.
