Title: Throttle body clean

Just a quick question, when you diconnect the battery do you take off the positive first or the negative?

I always remove the positive first.

negative first you dont get a spark

Removal 1) Negative 2) Positive

reconecting 1) positive 2) negative

I was always told at college to leave the negative lead connected as that way it keeps the earth and could avoid damage but he was wrong it seems.

yeah if you leave earth connected you still have a circuit so when un bolting the postive clamp for example, if you touched your spanner or the postive lead on any part of the body/chassis you will get pos/neg cross and some nice sparks  :laugh: :laugh:

Also check to see if you have a fault code after disconnecting the battery as it will sometimes store one  :nerd:

I just pull off whichever connection I'm closest to at the time!!  I only remove one as well!  :grin:

Yep just dont put grease on the terminals as VW dont recommend it (even though most other companies do.)
