this cross is mainly known as the iron cross and yes as stated it has nazi connections, but only becasue hitler adopted in on medals and comemorations in the second world war.
-
probs more to do with the goth kids these days linking it to anything german tbh...load a crap and nasty
-
Lol so goth is now from German descendance?? I think it's more bikers than anyone that incorporate it into their image
-
it was used long befor hitler got his mits on it
the prussians used it as a medal in the 1800s
a friend of a friend who lives in germany is writeing a book
on the iron cross some of the version of are as valuble as a vc
it was used a lot by early amrican hot rodders
-
It's the order of St John and was used by the Crusader States between the 12th and 15th Centuries. Over the Centuries it has evolved but Hitler ressurected it to try and bring back the bravery of the Prussian Warriors.
It is traditionally a Christian symbol though.
-
Similar to the Swastica. That was originally a Hindu/Budist religeous symbol, bastardised by Hitler.
Hitler was very supersticious and very much into the occult, which is probably why he adopted these symbols into his own purpose.
I also think that the Goths originated from Germany. You should go to Leipzig, old eastern Germany and look at the architechture there, as well as the people. I would safely say that between 40 and 50 percent of the people there are Goths.
-
So all this might be true but what has this got to do with VW's ?
-
Are you lot talking about the Goths as a people? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goth (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goth)
or goth rock people? And what have either of them got to do with these crosses

You beat me too it.

So were all Nazi Goth emo's then lol

As stated abbove the cross was used a long time before the Nazi’s typicaly by Christians but I think the conection is made with bikers initally using it a as a anti authoritarian statement.
Hod Rodders then picked it up in the US which in turn was used on the moddified VW Beetle’s and it seems to have now carried over to all older VW’s.

maltese cross is different to the iron cross, but most crosses of this time were very similar as they were awarded for bravery and empnhasised the cross shape or holy influence, as in christ was on your side etc, and no i havent been on wiki, i remember we studied in history gcse :nerd:
