I think these give it a suttle look, really like em are they 17" or 18"???

It really depends on what look you want?

Title: Re: need help choosing ....
Post by: navmk4gti on 01 March 2009, 20:56
i dont want typical look as theres quite a few golfs around my area.. i want to keep the suttle VW look if you know wa i mean

as im going to be putting a full anni kit in april, with smoked henna rear lights, and projectors on the front with debadged grill, so after something make it look suttle and not typical golf look.

oh and some smoked out black wind deflectors are going on in april too

I shall stick to my usual reply fr MK4 alloys queries - R32 rims (OZ Super turismos). I think they look ace and diffrent form the BBS RCs

Title: Re: need help choosing ....
Post by: navmk4gti on 01 March 2009, 21:05
i neva thought about those!!!
will the ones are the r32 slap straight on normal golf mk4 as i thought the offset is different???
Title: Re: need help choosing ....
Post by: Rhyso on 01 March 2009, 21:08
straight fit

ANY OEM MKIV wheel will fit directly onto another MKIV

will there be a nasty gap between the rim and the arch if i fit 18" rims on, as i dont want to lower the car at all.

That's the least of the wheels' problem in that picture!! ;)

Tyre's are shocking, TBH, but they came with the wheels (4 odd ones).  Still not bad £350 for the lot, though! :smug

I only got one decent tyre with them, & that was an F1 GS-D3 (Only about 2-3mm left on it now, though).  Since then, I've had 1 x 6mm F1 Assymetric put on already (£50 delivered), & had another 6mm F1 Assymetric picked up today, as it happens, for £38 8).  I'm just biding my time, waiting for the bargains to unravel! :P  Only 2 more to go, now!! :)

No offence, but Pirelli's are way down on my list!  Just don't rate them, TBH. ;)

seriously i thought they are like the BEST!!! as iv been told... iv got continental's on my original 16" gti rims  ... not gone into a roundabout yet so all good
Title: Re: need help choosing ....
Post by: Ivor Mk4 Turbo on 02 March 2009, 13:54
Mmmmm, I know a few people in the tyre trade, & none of them rate them either!

F1 Assymetrics (N/A in 16", though :() or Michy's (too expensive new) for me.  Then maybe Bridgestones next. :)

Good plan.  No point swapping them if you're going to get 18's.  :afro:

i dont find any difference between the 16's or 18's to be honest - haven't really pushed the car too hard as still bedding in the tyres a bit but the ride quality doesn't seem affected

i'm running original shocks on -30mm Eibach Pro Springs and Falken 452 tyres

Wider tyre, so there's more grip, but there's a less sharp turn-in.  They're usually heavier (unlike my 18" OZ's Vs. 16" Brands Hatch's :smug:) so handling is not quite as good.  Ride is slightly harsher, as the sidewalls are shorter. ;)

hmmmm there are loads and i mean loads of humps around where i live... i think lowering will have to be an option if im goin to put 18" on as i hate that gap between the arch.

ill be needing extra cusion on the drivers seat i guess

wont i damage the shocks if im constantly going of humps day in and out??? as my mates got vrs and he had his lowered 40mm ... just the springs changed... and now hes shoks are going he has to get them changed.
Title: Re: need help choosing ....

not really as the Eibachs are designed to work with the original shocks

probably won't last as long obviously but they certainly won't fail overnight!
