Title: Keyfobs
Post by: ade1703 on 01 March 2009, 19:29
I have an issue were one of my keyfobs, it has stopped working, I assumed that it was the battery had failed so I swapped it for a new one. Problem is it still does not work! The little red led flashes when I press the buttons on the keyfob and thats about it. Has anyone else experienced this kind of problem, do I need to get it reprogrammed at the dealers/elsewhere or am I looking at having to replace it.

How long have you had the car for? And have you driven for longer than 30 mins nonstop?

needs re-setting then

there is a procedure for the MKIV but i'm not sure if it would work for the MKV  :undecided:

does the keyfob start the car?

Had the car since last May, 17,000 (of my miles) on the clock  since I bought it  (just gone through 80,000) and plenty of journeys over thirty minutes.

I had the same issue when replacing the battery in the fob.

There is a sequence that you need to do to re-establish the connection.

Off the top of my head, I can't remember it but it tells you in the manual.

Does amaze me the amount they charge. My brother-in-law has the gear for reprogramming merc keys. Due to the business he is in, he has to sort out a lot of truck units. Apparently it takes seconds to do.
