Title: ESP failure
Post by: No Golf Clubs at all on 01 March 2009, 15:04
Thankfully not mine, but a mate just dropped by. He has an 07 gold plus tdi thing. His ESP warning lamp is permanently on. Any ideas or advice? Has anyone experienced similar?

Get him to get into the dealers, possible ABS pump failure.

get him to read the manual - it should say the reasons WHY the ESP light has come on

VAG tend to use a warning lamp for several systems  :nerd:

i.e. glow plug lamp on a diesel normally indicates a bulb has blown

this happened to my car 2 weeks ago whilst the mrs was driving,

just took it to vw and they hooked it to the diagnostic comp and they sorted it out, not had problems since.

im sure they said the ecu had 'misfire' messages but they dont log the time or date,

I will ask the brake fluid, but reckon given the cars age it'll be whtever it left the factory with. Will advise soon how he got on today, I'll drop him a txt.

Ahh right.  And I also missed that it is a Golf Plus too!  :embarassed:

He isn't a wheel chair user or sommat?  Maybe some kind of mobility aid is interferring with it?  :undecided:

Or does it have a tow bar - cause the electric socket for the tow bar can sometimes mess up the ABS/ESP module if incorrectly coded.

Diesel Golf Plus.

Erm, a diesel Golf Plus is actually a very good car - if your own preference is more suited to slightly taller cars, with flexible seating.  A Golf Plus is considerably better than many of its rivals, including the Focus C-max , and the Merc A class

Ask him why he didn't buy a 5 door GTI?

Because maybe it is too low!

My old many adores my GTI, but he got a Golf Plus because a/ the GTI seats are too low, and b/ he can get his electric wheel chair in the boot.

44 born again biker already nearly lost a leg 20 years ago, 2 years ago ended up with a toyota Yaris on top of him almost severing an arm...riddled with osteo athritis as a result....but has it in his blood (biking that is). For all that I actually think he's a good defensive driver.
