quick question, is it bonded in? or is it removable, replaceable? (by me )
-
Removable and replaceable by you, with care. Start at a corner and peel back the rubber, then just work your way round. Ideally, you need two people, but it is possible by yourself.
-
so its not bonded like the mk3?
i have just aquired a 2nd mk2 and want to swap the windows around, as i have a set of Factory Tinted Windows
-
no it isnt bonded, jst a push fit. i sit inside the boot and push at 1 corner with my foot till it pops out. side/rear glass can take a surprising amount of force

It just takes time and patience. It takes me about 5-7 minutes to remove one, and about 10 minutes to refit one. And that is without any force at all. But RJ is right. These windows can take a huge amount of abuse without breaking, but I would not go there if I were you.

if you push firmly in 1 corner (dont boot it, just put pressure on it ) you should feel the seal pop out, once you get that far you can just pull it out. I've done loads this way and never shattered or dropped one.
