Title: What cleaning products do you use on your mk2??
Post by: twistedblack69 on 27 February 2009, 22:58
Also, include some post-wash pics if possible. I'm taking mine to the rolling road next weekend, want to clean her up at least, 'cause she's rather dirty at the mo, anything to avoid?? I've got this Turtle Wax Nanotech stuff I bought 'cause it sounded kool, any users??

Well done for staying out of the incredibly OCD detailing section to ask this question.

I use some Turtle wax shampoo (although i do prefer the 2 bucket method for washing) then i've got some auto glym polish, sometimes use a bit of Mer because it's there, no other reason then i've got some 100% Carnubba wax to seal the polish in. Good stuff that. Wheels are cleaned with a brush and some alloy wheel cleaner i think it's called wonder wheels then i put a bit of said wax on top to stop the brake dust settling and  wearing in.
I could go on but will leave it at that for now

i usually go to work (landrover garage)

alloy wheel cleaner (watered down)
pre wash on the front of the bonnet and exhaust
rinse
wash with autoglym shampoo
rinse
use steam cleaner to add after wash polish stuff (or polish using autoglym products ONLY)
dry and hoover
clean windows and mirrors
black bumpers and trims with cockpit shine

take it out on the road just so i can clean it again (BROODLY WINTER)
