Title: Strut Brace
Post by: Phil.O on 27 February 2009, 20:25
are they worth the money?

how much can you get a decent one for?

and.....

where is the best place to get one?

been thinking about getting one for ages and going round a tightish corner today at 50 made me think of them again,

any advice would be great,

cheers

Get the S3 upper & lower ones from Audi - Make a fair bit of a tangible difference, IMO. 8)

Be about £75-£80 for the pair, IIRC. :afro:

cool, thanks for that,

have you still got all the part numbers?

or is it just gonna be easier to wonder into Audi and ask for the parts?

The p/no's for the lower one are on page 3 of that link I gave you.  I'll have to have a dig around for the upper ones.

if you don't mind finding them that'd be good,

are there different 1s for different models/years like mk4/mk5 golf or are they standard braces?

S3 UPPER STRUT BRACE (Mk4 Platform)

P/No.:  8L9805629A  (£54.10 + VAT)

6 x Hexagon Nut  (£0.10 + VAT) - I don't know if the 12 washers you need come with these or not??

do you not need any bolts for the upper strut brace?

Of course.

They must come with either of the above, because as far as I can see on ETKA, they are the only 2 part no's which are associated with the brace.  Check with the Audi parts dept. ;)

The S3 has the studs built into the top of the struts so it won't have the bolts listed as parts on ETKA

The nuts are there though. I would advise getting A4 stainless socket cap bolts for the brace as they will be in the wheel arch collecting crap and rusting away
