Hi,
Thanks for the reply..... i take it that the GTI 20valve is this one?
CC/Cyl BHP MPH 0-60 MPG CO2 IG
1.8 GTi 3d 1781/4 125 125 9.6 34 199 10
1.8 GTi 5d 1781/4 125 125 9.6 34 204 10
do the GTI's only come in 20valve and Turbo models?
Also which one would be the better engine to modify (as u can tell i am a proper newbie)
Thanks again
Jel

there's the 1.8 20 valve, 2.0 8 valve (near the bottom of the parkers guide) and of course the 1.8T 20 valve.
The 1.8T (turbo) is by far the easiest and cheapest of the bunch to modify engine-wise.

Hi,
Thanks for your help.......
Ive got one more question if anyone can help, a friend of mine has got a Mk 4 TDI and wants to know if he can increase the performance from the 90 bhp he's currently got....
Any ideas?

yeah, sell it and buy a 130pd diesel,
THe 90bhp one is really not worth throwing money at, he needs the 130 or even 150 one to see some real performance, sorry just my opinion, why waste good money
