Title: Have a couple of problems with my mark 3 golf gti 2.0 8v

Hi there, i'm new to this forum and I have a couple of probelms with my 2.0 golf gti mark 3.

Firstly, my reverse light does not come on when reverse gear is chosen, i have replaced the bulb but still nothing - is there a fuse for the reverse light and if so where is this located ??

Secondly, the 15 amp fuse for my central locking, cigarette lighter, interior light and trip computer keeps blowing after only a couple of days - i've heard this could be down to the fact my rear windscreen wiper has ceased, could this be the case and if so how do i go about unsticking the rear wiper ??

Any assistance in this matter would be grately appreciated as i'm looking to sell the car soon !!

Reverse lights will or could your gearbox switch, pull the plug off and bridge the terminals if they then come on you need a new switch.

Brilliant - but without running the risk of sounding like a complete idiot, i'm not the most clued up about the car - not had it long, can do the basics but what plug ?

On the gearbox you will see a small switch and a plug, unplug and using a paper clip, touch the 2 terminals and they should light.

Why has the rear wiper ceased?

Motor gone or has it just siezed up? (rusted)

Sorry i didnt mean rear wiper i meant boot lock !

Ive actually took the rear wiper off and blanked the hole - looks better !!   :grin:

The boot lock should work off the main central locking, which is pneumatically controlled. (air pump)

Well - just found out whats blowing my fuse, its when i push in the cigarette lighter in, i know the easy solution is not to push the thing in lol, but i've just bought a twin screen dvd player for my boys in the back !!

So, is there an easy way to check the wiring, or am i just best chuckig it in the garage and getting them to look at it ??
