Title: ed30 zorst on gti?
Post by: No Golf Clubs at all on 24 February 2009, 08:03
Thinking of changing my abt rear valance and milltek quads. Quite fancy an ed30 rear with either a stock ed30 zorst or taking the plunge and fitting a milltek twin. Will the ed30 oem zorst fit the standard 2005 gti ?

Blimey, this is news to me. I always thought he ED30 zorst was the same as the GTI . . . . .

I am sure someone will be along to correct me, but i think the ED30 exhaust is slightly bigger in diameter (2.75inch vs 2.5inch  :nerd:). No sure if there are any other differences..

Personally, I think you should stick with your quads ;)

....

If you go for an Ed30 rear you're in danger of becoming a 'pretend Ed30' when combined with your Pescara's - Just my opinion and ETTO.

The Milltek zorst for the GTI and Ed30 I think are different, mainly due to the K03 and K04 manifolds I expect. Different downpipes?

A lot of fine tuning goes into a Milltek performance exhaust's design and development - I would strongly advise talking to them direct - Not some bod on a car forum, nor even a Milltek reseller.

Think you've got the wrong end of the stick there Robin. He wants to know if the OEM system fits the standard GTI. If he goes to Milltek he'll just get a GTI one (although after the CAT the only difference between the two milltek systems is the tailpipe arrangement).

As for fitting the OEM ED30 item to a GTI, I'd imagine not a straight swap, but anything can be made to fit with the right tools and determination.

....Or even the wrong end of the pipe!

Sorry about that. However, assuming I also haven't misunderstood your post, I wouldn't advise anyone to mix 'n match an exhaust system no matter how good their tools and determination are.

All notes. Only reason I was asking is there is a guy selling ed30 rear and zorst on the other forum. Would kind of like to have more an oem look, the quads are a bit over the top for me.

the quads are a bit over the top for me.

....I've occasionally had those same thoughts but since re-styling my rear I love my quads.

not the exact answer you are looking for but just to confirm that Milltek use the same center sections for the GTI and Edition 30 systems so I would imagine you could fit an Milltek ED30 back box onto yours?

To be clear ..... I am not actively looking for an ed30 zorst on a gti it's just I wanted more stock than abt and quads.  Bloke selling a rear and a zorst on other forum I just wonder if I took the rear bumper would the zorst fit. To the uneducated eye an ed30 rear and zorst would not look out of place. However it seems I may be on the edge of some kind of sacrelidge ....perhaps I will just stick the money into the revo offer  worse than a burd eh? !!!

I like quiet originality not in yer face woo hoo but snooze etto etc

the rear part of the Miltek system is interchangable, ie

you could change the rear box part of the system to the standard twin pipe GTi style or fit a R32 style rear box and get a new vallance
