I've been sorting my dads van out, it had an oil leak on the rocker cover. I took all the radiator and that off, and put it all back together, and now the steering is hard, and it makes groaing noises. Right turns are impossible and left groans. Do you think it could be oil on the belt or something else? It is quite low on PAS fluid, but there is still some in the resovoir.
Ideas? Gotta go back out there now, garage is all open.
Cheers.

Just went out there, rev the van and it squeels at you. No pipes crushed or anything, the belt is as loose as hell, so will have to order one.
Cambelt needs doing as well.
Anyway, fluid has come back out now. Call it a day and wash it I think.

Belt is far from gone, gonnna change that.

ive had the same thing this weekend with my own t4 .. i had the rad off and had disconnected the silver PAS fluid pipe that runs in front of the radiator .. whilst i was tinkering i lost a bit of fluid from one of the pipes so the reservoir was reading about 30mm from the bottom .. fired the van up and the steering was making some nasty noises and was very lumpy .. topped the fluid up so it was withing the two lines and now all is well .. had to bleed it for a few seconds just to remove any air ( full lock from side to side ) and top up the reservoir

^^As above, try bleeding it.

Thank you all. Topped up fluid, bled, topped up more, bled, top up, bled, top up bled and it's done.
Vans almost a good 'un now!
