Hey guys, had a search and nothing came up
But anyway, where are the bolts for removing the rear bumper? Hopefully be able to do mine tonight if its not too much of a lengthy process!
Any pics/helps most appreciated.

Easy, open tailgate and you will see 4 covers pop them off and remove the bolts then look underneath and you will see 3 more bolts so 7 in total then the bumper slides off.
-
Sweet thanks bud! Sounds really easy  sure its held on properly?
-
Didnt look far!
There is a full write up with pics up in the Maintenance/Info section!
By me! :smug:
-
I didnt look  I searched
Just shows that all the unhelpful people who post a link to the search box don't have a clue :lipsrsealed:
-
Will be miles easier for you to jack the car up or put it on ramps. When I took mine off it was easier on ramps, yours is lowered too.
-
If you need anymore info on it mate just ask me!
I also did the front Bumper but never took any pics, but its basically the same.
Oh and take no notice of Josho! There are 3 bolts under the bumper but no reall need to jack it up!

I just found it easier to get right underneath it. Meh, I had it up cause of the exhaust anyway. I found the bolts easier with a torch.

Cheers bud, I'll pm you if I have any problems later on :) Not going to do the front bumper just yet
Will be easier to just reverse it up onto some wood blocks or something  Jacking it up takes about half an hour

It's weird, I can't get the GL up that easily cause it sits low, even a trolly jack won't go under in some places, ramps you have to put the car on blocks then the ramp, and yet there is loads of arch gap.
-
Yea drive it up on some timbers. You dont really need to get underneath, but its easier to actually see the 3 bolts.
-
Soft suspension will make it sit low as its quite a heavy car, and the wheels are likely to only be 14's or something? making the arch gap bigger.
My arch gap is still pretty big as I have pretty much no tyres  If i lowered the coilovers right down on the front the car would be sat on the floor

Cheers len, are the 2 side bots where the side clips are on the side of the car? Or are they still on the rear of the car?
-
How does it take 30mins to jack up a car? LOL! Doesn't take that long for me, widow maker gets her up a tiny bit until there's enough room for the trolly jack and hey presto. :P
I'd be interested in taking off my rear bumper and seeing if there's any damage as I am sure it's been knocked or something :(
-
When i got the front up i had to use wood, a low level scissor jack and a normal jack and that lifted the back up aswell
I recon my drive will be fine to do the bumper as its not totally level and will allow one side of the rear bumper to be higher and enough for me to look underneath :)
May as well take it off one day mate, sounds really easy tbh!

I'm probably gonna do it in the next couple of weeks, not major atm but something I'd like to do :)

Yer might just be worth a look
Dreading if theres any damage under mine

Trust me the rear bumper is easy to remove.

Trust me the rear bumper is easy to remove.
Thanks bud :) How long would you say it will take to take the one above off and fit the new one? An hour or more or less?
Sorry, I don't want to start it if its going to get dark while i'm doing it! :embarassed:
-
There are just the 4 top bolts and 3 underneath. The sides are just clips that come off their runners (like) as you pull the bumper rearwards.
The difficult bit is refitting, making sure you get both sides back on those side clips, to and bottom.

1hr max to be honest, might be best to get a friend to help guide the sides onto the clips.
-
Thanks for all the help guys! I'll just get my dad to guide it onto the sides and hold it while I get the top bolts on
Await pics this evening  (assuming I do actually get the bumper back!)
-
Once its back on the side clips properly it will stay there by itself while you fit the top bolts, they will hand screw in at first.
-
Oh cool! Sounds pretty easy. Does the bumper iron have separate bolts to the shell?
Thanks for the help bud :) Mystic blue mk3 crew ftw!
-
No metal in the actual bumper itself, all plastic!
There is a substantial metal bumper behind that. Doubt very much you will need to take that off!
-
Oh right, nothing like the MK2 then!
Had to jack that right up to get to the 4 bolts hidden underneath

I love the fact that you make sure about EVERYTHING before attempting it.
Really shows you care about your car. Instead of me, yeah that'll work, then the fan belt falls off.
-
Will go down the bodyshop in a minute to see if yours and mine is done, then give you a text mate.
Your rear wont take anywhere near as long as my front one..... lol..... One of my chassis legs is moved about 5cm. lol

Yer, I like to make sure I know what i'm doing before I make a mistake that could be costly (not that the bumper would be really but thats not the point as such).
Theres nothing wrong with having a go though :) you had a go, it went wrong, and you'll learn from it. By always asking i'm playing it safe but if push comes to shove and I have to do something on the fly or something, I won't have had the same mishaps and stuff. I'll know how to do specific stuff but new stuff will be a mystery!

Sweet cheers mate  Can't wait tbh
Ah right that could be a problem then  Is there no way of knocking it back into place?

Personal circumstances stopped it progressing unfortunately
