most places do it like Autobrite, Elite Car Care etc

you then buy some 'Snow Foam' fill the bottle with about 1/2inch of foam and the rest with warm water

then let the fun commence

pretty good - it does remove alot of the surface grime - just watch the colour of the water as it drips off the car / van

Yeah, I was just gonna use the little hose on the actual pressure washer, but then I've noticed Halfords sell the snow foarm lance for £16.99 for Kartcher? Might do that.

Gotta get motivation now, second to last day off, I really should sort out his van for him.

you won't get the same results though - a proper snow foam lance is approx £50

i've tried the little bottle that came with my Karcher but it doesn't produce very thick foam

How much splatter to you guys get?

Mine seems to either go a good five meters or splatter back and hit me.
Trying to work out if:
1) standing to close
2) standing to far
3) pressure washer too powerful (2800W, 160 Bar)
4) foam to thick
5) not a good lance (can't remember who's atm, was supposed to be a good one)

if i stand within a metre then yeah it splatters.  Think i stand approx 2 metres away  :undecided:

your pressure washer is a lot more powerful than mine mind you - think mines a 1500W  :undecided:

well you mentioned standing the other side of the street so i assumed cars would be passing between you and your car

if you cover them then technically you're washing their car so charge the buggers

ok, well compared to the old bucket and mitt is this a much more effective/easier way of cleaning the car, just trying to weigh up the 'investment' ;)

i think it helps keep marring to a minimum as it does remove a fair bit of dirt etc from the car before you attack it with a mitt

it quickens up the process if you car is well detailed and protected with a decent wax as the dirt will come off more easily

up to mate but i'm well happy with my 'investment'

Cleaned the van and the Golf with just the jet wash with the little pipe. Works well, althought the back of the van was like tar, I had to use the rough endge of the sponge designed for wheels and screen wash to get it off. Golf looks good though. If the lance is much better, will look into it.

Resurrecting an old thread, but I learnt something so thought I'd share.

Worked out my lance has another setting, I'd twiddled the knob and made the foam thicker, but didn't realise that the nozzle twisted as well (yes obvious I know) *slap head*
This lets me make the spray wider (and not so powerful) the effect that I can now foam cars, without massive splatter, woot!

i now have to do my cars half on the road, half on the ddrive so i can stand far enuff back to get a good Fan Effect with the lance
