Hi guys just wandered out of the mk 4 section to ask some advise, I have been asked by my mother inlaw to advertise on this site her mk 1 cab and to get an idea on the price,
The car is 1800 GTI Karman in White with navy electric hood
milage 32,940
G reg
she is the second owner
there is a Clifford microwave thatcham catogory 1 alarm.
The previous owner was an elderly lady, car was stored for eight years before she had it.
so any ideas what it's worth it's in immaculate condition apart from the alloys are a bit corroded
-
Bloody hell thats low miles!! I would say about 2 grand mate
-
At least £2.5k or more with those miles.

trying to get some off the mother in law bear with me for a bit

2k ! Are you lot having a bubble ?
If someone is after a low mileage cab (likes white) then I'd say nearer 3k (maybe even more) to be honest. If that was put up by a trader I reckon they'd have it up at 4 - 4.5k.
There's not many around like that these days so it's worth top money if it's as good as it's been described.
If I was after a cab and I bought that off you for 2k I will know I have robbed you.

intresting i thought it was worth closer the 3k mark myself as it's a genuine mint low mileage car  going to take some photos on the weekend so i can post them on here/

I personally wouldn't put any price on it until I had seen the car itself. Having stored a cab myself for over a year, I know what can go wrong, whether its low mileage or not - no offence.
I'm assuming as you said Karmann that a big bumper kit is on it?
Be good to see pics.
Dinx

No matter, it's worth 3k easy if it's as described, but it does depend on the body work, rust blah blah. I've seen scabby cabs go for 1 - 1.5k so no way is this only 2k whuch ever way you look at it.
Get some pics up, if it's as good as you say it is and you only want 2k for it I might be tempted !

Wowser ! That looks mint. The only thing I can see is a small rusty stone chip below the passenger side spotlight. The back arches look fine and they usually get chipped to fook after a while. The wheels aren't the best but that's just being picky. What are the front seats like ? Lets see how many people think it's worth only 2k now !
If you only want 2k for that let me know and I'll see if I can get the funds.

thats a very nice looking cab. respect to your mil for keeping it so tidy. i thought i had low mileage with 63,000 but that beats mine hands down. take it to a show you'll get good money for it ;-)
-
Wowser ! Now that is mint. Seats don't even look like they've been sat in.
I sold my cab a couple of years ago, ok it was a Rivage, but I sold that for £3750 and it had 132k miles on. Now I've seen the pics of this one I'm not sure how much it's worth to be honest because it could even be around the 4k mark in that condition and with those miles, maybe more to the right person, who knows.
-
That looks well mint, except for that little stone chip you mentioned Gibby. £3-5 to £4k  Dai tell the MIL to loose the hoody in the pic
-
I have looked at the pics of this a few times and I honestly can't believe how good it is. I think it's probably the mintest, lowest mileage, original standard cab that I've ever seen and I don't particularly like white cabs.
I really hope your MIL can get good money for it as it does not deserve to be sold cheap and if you do sell it cheap I guarantee that the person who stole it off you will cash in and sell it for more.
-
that mk1 is BEAUTIFUL
-
Put it up for £4.5k on pistonheads and go from there! Looks lovely though.

yeah i agree that i have never seen such an original good clean car thats why I asked on here about the value as there is nothing for sale anywhere that compares i think we would all prefer it to go to another enthusiast rather than someone after a fast buck!!

Going to have to agree with that. Start at 4.5k if really want to sell.
-
That is mint, you should see over £4k for that.
