Title: Cant get gearbox in
Post by: UKjarvis on 22 February 2009, 15:34
Hi me again I managed to take my gearbox out of my mk2 8v, with great trouble but now for the life of me I cant get it back in, im hitting the clutch and the chasis near the engine mount. I have taken out the bracket that bolts the gearbox to the engine mount, the engine is jacked up I dont know what else I can do but its really really tight.

Is there a trick or is it just hard.

thanks guys.

its a pain in the ass, you have to get the drives side driveshaft round the flywheel, no real tips, just twist and wiggle, helps to tip the diff upwards.

As in they had come off from the plate? Can you show a picture of this? It is pretty unusual for this to happen, and if it has then it may have done some damage to the flywheel...
