hey guys, just after a bit of advice really... i have a misfire on my mk2, its fine on idle, acceleration and deceleration but if your crusing or hold the revs theres a misfire, i have spoken to a few people and we cant seem to pin point what it is... When taking the head off (to replace the headgasket) the connector at the back of the inlet manifold, one of the wires was pulled out, and im told that connector is something to do with full throttle and idle... we repaired this but the problem persisted... im really lost on this one, any help would be muchly appreciated :)
Cheers

Has the problem started since you did the head gasket?. Its also worth changing the plugs, leads and dizzy cap.

A misfire is usually when either fueling pauses or you miss a spark. So start checking those.
When was the last time the fuel filter was replaced?
What condition are the sparks/leads/rotor/dizzy in?
Are you running iton 95 or super? Is it definately a misfire or a backfire?

i changed the leads plugs and dizzy a few months ago, the rotor arm was okay at the time, will inspect again, yea its just been since we put the head back on, as for the fuel filter i will have to dig out the reciepts and have a look, ive had it 18 months and i havent done it, also im not sure if theres any connection, it has some trouble starting occasionally since the H/G change, give it some gas and it starts..

sorry for jumping in but whats the diffrence between miss fire and backfire? thanks

Could always try replacing the blue temp sensor and setting up as per the tuning guide

I had a similar thing on my digi, fine most of the time but when cruising along at a certain speed it would start bucking. Turned out to be lean mixture :)
