I am wondering is it posible to change my mk1 1.8gti speedo meter(max120mph)to us mk1 caddy speedo meter with 220km reading?Because the meter look alike!
-
WHY? ???
-
Because my existing speedo is out reading is not correct,so if i order a brand new speedometer the 120mph and the 220km is the same price so if the 220km speedometer can fix in i will prefer the 220km speedometer.

do you live in uk? as i think it may cause a legal problem and also an insurance problem, also if you sell it in the future its going to be less desirable.
however i cannot see why it would not fit/work if it is the same part for the car but with different numbers on as the gearing driving it would be the same.

u can have a kilometer speedo in this country no problems, what worries me is why u want 2. is ur car LHD?? the 220km speedometer isnt gonna fix ur car, gettin the problem sorted in the first place will.
u bein serious or just havin a wind up??? may as welll sort ur car out properly innit ???
has it beeen modified/derestricted in anyway??? just seems a bit of a weird question when mark 1 clocks r easily available :-\
-
are you running the right sized tyres is the first question?
-
I am living in MALAYSIA here our speed is in KM,my speedometer cannot be repair so to replace i will go to KM reading but worried the KM reading cannot work on my UK spec mk1 gti!
-
assuming as dizzie said its got standard wheels etc for accuracy. then there would be no reson why not.

you can either change the speedometer as an individual component or change the complete unit, bare in mind if you do that you need a set of clocks with only one plug, the two plug verson is a nightmare to set up.
