Title: Power Steering?? highly confused!!
Post by: skem55 on 18 February 2009, 23:27: ok looking at all the pumps up to mk4, im starting to wonder wat the hell is connect to my power steering rack!

will have to get pictures tomoro, but it looks like a pump that i used to have on my vts!! yes i just swore!

ne hows was there any golfs with an electric power steering pump? as in the process of trying to see why power steering does not work, only to find an electric pump rather than mechanical?

haha sorry. if it's on a mk2 you will have fun trying to guess what car it's from. if you have photos i will be able to tell if it's a saxo one or not as have one in the garage.

it bloody better not be a saxo pump lol ill be ripping it out ne hows soon and going back to mechanical

Post by: sharpie on 19 February 2009, 18:24: i've heard of people putting the saxo pump in other cars before so there's every chance it could be. photos will tell for sure. if it's not working check wiring and main fuse (obviously) and would save hassle putting the belt driven pump back in.

Post by: skem55 on 19 February 2009, 20:01: Well that sorted that f**king wiring, i dont no wat the hell the fella before did to the car. Looks he like just disconnected all the engine bay components as traced the maze of wires and hey presto it works!! :laugh: Still dont no wat pump it is as it aint a saxo one for sure! thank fook!!

The pump has hpi on the end of it but it looks like it shud be there?? as under the coolant reservoir is all sittin neatly with a bracket holding it in place?
