Title: Funny Noise When Starting The Car

When I start my car, which is a mk4 golf gti t, it makes a funny noise, cant really describe the sound but its really loud. It always makes it when i first start it and if i start it a few times after. Any ideas??

I would go with Rich on this, the pumps split allowing the air to escape while it's running. the pumps only run for about 30secs after cold starts. It a common issue with the later 1.8T engines

is it common on the 2.slow as mine started to sound like that?
