Title: Key progamming

Hi
 I have a 2002 GT TDI 130 with only one key (flip). I have just got another key and need to get it set up for my car. Also as it has already been cut I need to get a new key bit cut. Anyone got any ideas if this can be done yourself like on most Fords or where to get it done?
 Also how can u tell the difference between a 115 and 130 pd, there is nothing on any paper work and I only took the word of the dealer that it is a 130. It is a June 02 (manufactured in March/April 02) with the winter pack, cruise, lumbar, auto dimming mirror, and the 16" alloys.

Hey Stevie,
Last time I was at the dealership picking up parts, there was a rather frustrated guy infront of me who was being told that his vehicle would need to be at the dealership for them to match the key. I can't say I've ever seen any places that cut modern car keys (doesn't mean they don't exist!) and if you take that route you'd need it coded by someone who's pretty sh1t-hot with vagcom.
I know they're a rip-off, and generally a usless bunch of tossers.. but I'd seriously consider using a vw dealership for this. Some things just aren't worth cutting corners with  :-\ At least you'd have full warranty.

I think that you will need to order the actual metal key blade from VW - no doubt there are places out there that you can get it done, but they are probably the kind of places that you don't want making copies of your own car keys if you know what I mean! They will probably need to see your V5 registration document unless you have the original security tag that came with the original keys (I'm guessing you don't, if you don't already have the second key).

The coding of the remote control/immobiliser can be done using VAG-COM so another forum member may be able to help you out if you don't want to pay extortionate VW dealer labour prices.

I've got some documentation somewhere on using vagcom and programming keys.  If you PM me I'll send it through.

I think I found it when I needed to re-programme one of my keys.
